Paracelse

A woman is sitting in front of a book. There is a big fire in the fireplace. A mouse is taunting a cat sleeping on a stool.

On the left, a candle is burning on the top of two magic books full of moisture. The owl is watching the situation.

Downstairs, a Light rises from darkness.

On the top of the staircase, a trapdoor will have to be opened.

While drawing this trapdoor, I felt that I would have to go once more through a bush full of thorns before going down towards the Light.

This painting was inspired by Jorge Luis Borgès : “The Rose of Paralcese”. I wanted to draw an old man but it came out to be a woman.
